ICF Foundations
Stronger. Warmer. Built to Last.
At Yorkcrete, we specialize in ICF (Insulated Concrete Form) Foundations—a high-performance alternative to traditional poured concrete. Whether you're building a custom home, commercial space, or multi-unit development, ICF foundations provide unmatched strength, energy efficiency, and long-term value from the ground up.
What Makes ICF Foundations Different?
Unlike standard concrete foundations, which use wood or metal forms temporarily removed after the pour, ICF foundations use permanent interlocking foam blocks that stay in place. These forms are filled with reinforced concrete and provide built-in insulation on both sides of the wall.

This creates a solid, monolithic concrete structure that is stronger, better insulated, and more moisture-resistant than traditional foundation systems.
Superior Strength
ICF walls are steel-reinforced and poured continuously, offering high structural integrity and resistance to cracking, shifting, and settling.
Exceptional Insulation
ICF foundations come with R-values of up to R-24 or higher, significantly reducing heat loss through the foundation walls. This improves energy efficiency and helps regulate indoor temperatures year-round.
Moisture & Mold Resistance
The closed-cell foam used in ICF blocks does not absorb water and acts as a barrier against moisture intrusion, reducing the risk of mold, mildew, and basement dampness.
Soundproofing & Comfort
ICF blocks reduce outside noise and provide a more stable, comfortable living environment—especially important for basements and lower levels.
Long-Term Savings
Lower energy bills, reduced maintenance, and improved durability all add up to substantial cost savings over the life of your building.
How Yorkcrete Builds ICF Foundations?
We follow a detailed, quality-driven process to ensure your ICF foundation is built to spec and built to last.
1. Site Prep & Excavation
We start by preparing the site, ensuring proper drainage, grading, and excavation to the exact specifications of your design.
2. Footing Installation
Footings are poured and leveled to create a solid, level base. Rebar is added for additional strength and to tie into the ICF wall system.
3. ICF Block Assembly
Lightweight foam blocks are stacked like Lego-style forms, interlocked in place, and reinforced with steel rebar. Openings for doors, windows, and utilities are integrated during this step.
4. Concrete Pouring
Concrete is pumped into the forms in stages to ensure a solid, continuous pour. Vibrators are used to remove air pockets and ensure full consolidation.
5. Waterproofing & Finishing
Once cured, we apply professional-grade waterproofing membranes or coatings to the exterior, and backfill with proper drainage layers in place.
